Federico García Lorca was born on June 5, 1898 in the house of Fuente Vaqueros. His house was a traditional housing of tillage, as others from the Vega of Granada. It was built by his father Federico García Rodríguez. When he got widowed he married Vicenta Lorca Romero, teacher in Fuente Vaqueros and Lorca's mother. The places about Lorca that we can visit in this village known as "La Fuente" are: El paseo del Prado: in it there are schools, a barrack and the church. Near this place we can find Lorca's house. At the end of the walk there is Lorca's sculpture and as motive of his birth, the floor is decorated. Feredico Garcia Lorca's natal House: nowadays it is a museum. It has one room of exhibitions: with letters, drawings and books and photos of his company of theatre, La Barraca. In Fuente Vaqueros there can be visited ''El Centro de Estudios Lorquianos'', located in the old dependences of the Town hall of the locality.
